It was at this time that he began concentrating on marine and aviation subjects, and he has since established himself as the foremost aviation artist painting today. From the world of aviation such notables as General Jimmy Doolittle, Sir Douglas Bader and top-scoring ace AVM Johnnie Johnson have enthused about his talent. His paintings hang in some of the most prestigious military museums around the world : The RAF Museum in London, The National Air and Space Museum in Washington, The International Air and Space Museum in San Diego, and The US Navy Museum in Pensacola. His one man exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum was described by the museum as their most popular art exhibition ever. Taylor's prodigious knowledge of subject, combined with a rare draughtman's talent and a classic style of painting has brought Taylor to the top of his profession. His canvases are expressive, distinctive, and exude a talent that is nothing short of exciting. His paintings are complete works of art in every sense.

Albatros W.4 by Ivan Berryman. (GL)

Albatros W.4 by Ivan Berryman. (GL)

In response to a requirement for a seaplane fighter scout, Albatros developed the elegant W.4, a direct descendent of their successful D.1, incorporating many common parts with its land-based relative. About 120 of the type were constructed, many employed in the defence of important naval bases scattered along the coast of the North Sea. A small number of W.4s however fell into the hands of the Soviet Red Army in 1918 and were pressed into service on the Black Sea, based at Sevastopol, as depicted here.
